£250,000 Big Lottery Funding

Posted by Wirral PCT Health and Wellbeing Team on September 25, 2007 2:19 PM |

Wirral Primary Care Trust’s Health and Wellbeing Team is to receive £250,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to improve the health, wellbeing and lifestyles of thousands of people in disadvantaged areas of the borough.

The funding will be in place from October and will be used to extend the work of the Team’s Community Health and Development Project in the three key areas of healthy eating, physical activity and mental health, by:

•Improving access to and support for people with mild to moderate conditions of anxiety and depression
•Supporting individuals and groups to eat more healthily through schemes such as the Food Education Awareness; Staff Training (FEAST)
•Improving provision of safe and effective exercise for older people to improve health and wellbeing and help reduce the number of falls in older people

The grant is part of a £7 million wellbeing programme supporting 27 Healthy Living Initiatives across the North West, between 2007 and 2012.
