About Us:

The Rotary Club of Mid Wirral is one of 64 Rotary Clubs in District 1180. Chartered in 1989, this was the first breakfast Rotary Club on Wirral and one of the first in Great Britain & Ireland.

The Club meets every Tuesday at 7.15 am for 7:30 am at The Jug & Bottle, Mount Avenue, Heswall.
We have 40 members drawn from the Wirral who are a mix of local businessmen and businesswomen and professionals and managers in the larger blue chip organisations based in the Liverpool and Manchester area.

Rotary is a service organisation and as such is involved in International Projects (primarily in the "Third World") in addition to local Community projects and projects associated with various of its members' Vocations. Rotary Foundation funds exchange visits and educational grants. And above all we take great enjoyment from our involvement in all activities.

Sophie's Bar supports sexual health campaign

Posted by Wirral PCT Health and Wellbeing Team on November 15, 2007 11:14 AM

Wirral Primary Care Trust’s Risk Taking Behaviour team has joined forces with a local bar to support the government’s sexual health information and advice campaign, Condom Essential Wear.

Sophie’s Bar on Argyle Street, Birkenhead, will be hosting the Condom Essential Wear campaign from December 1st - which is World AIDS day - until the New Year.

The campaign is aimed at 18-24year olds and includes posters to be displayed in the bar and information leaflets offering the facts on Sexually Transmitted Infections. Free condoms will also be available.

Latest statistics show that 18-24 year olds are most at risk of catching an STI. Figures show that Chlamydia is the most commonly treated but other infections are increasing.

For more information on the Wirral campaign please contact Deborah Williams, Health Promotion Strategy Manager at Wirral PCT, on 0151 651 0011

About us

Wirral's Community Relations Unit has relocated to the first floor of the Old Court Building, Manor Road, Wallasey. It is no longer involved with Hate Incidents. These are now the responsibility of the SIGMA Unit, which is based at Birkenhead Police Station.

Wirral's Community Relations Unit ensures that links with individual groups and sections of the community are established, maintained and developed.

What we learn from these relationships is passed on to departments across Wirral allowing us to deliver our services more effectively.

This dialogue provides the community with an opportunity to share their concerns, issues and fears with us and, in turn, allows us to work with them to ensure they are addressed.

The Unit can be used as a point of contact for people who are seeking information on the following subjects:

 Race, Gender & Disability Equality Schemes
 Stop Search
 Black & Racial Minorities
 Young People
 Gypsies/Travellers
 Social Exclusion (Sex workers, Homeless)
